These terms cover the Otterly iOS app and myotterly.xyz. Using Otterly means agreeing to them.
1 · Who we are
Otterly is operated by My Otterly, Kilimani, Nairobi, Kenya. Contact: hello@myotterly.xyz.
2 · Your account
You need an account to save progress. You can create one with Apple, Google, or an email link.
You agree to give accurate information, keep your sign-in method secure, and not share your account. You must be 13 or older. If you're under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
You can delete your account at any time: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. It is immediate and irreversible.
3 · What Otterly costs
Free. Every course and every lesson is free, with no exceptions. There is a daily limit of 5 lessons, and a daily allowance of AI tutor messages.
Pro does not change the lesson limit. Everybody gets the same five lessons a day, whether they pay or not. What Pro buys is:
- More AI tutor messages a day — 50 instead of 3, or 25 each on a Family plan
- Profile customisation — avatar frames and colours shown beside your name

Prices are in US dollars. The price shown in the app before you buy is the one that applies, in your local currency and including any tax Apple charges — that figure comes from the App Store, not from this page.
Family uses Apple Family Sharing: buy it once and everyone in your Apple family group gets Pro, each with their own account and their own progress.
No course content is behind the paywall. Every lesson in every course is available to everyone. Pro buys more of Otterly's own tools, not access to the material.
4 · Subscriptions, renewal, and refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple, not by us.
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Your Apple ID is charged at confirmation and again at each renewal.
- Cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.
- Pro remains active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple's policy. We cannot issue them. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
The Lifetime plan is a one-off purchase of Pro access for as long as Otterly operates. It is not a promise that Otterly will operate forever — see section 9.
5 · Course content and licensing
Otterly's courses are adapted from openly licensed textbooks published by OpenStax, a non-profit initiative of Rice University, and from Texas Education Agency materials. Each course names its source and licence in the app.

Otterly's own material — the app, its design, its lesson structure, and its editorial feed — is ours and is not covered by those licences.
6 · Sponsored years
Every Lifetime purchase funds one year of Pro for a student who can't pay for it. Codes are issued through myotterly.xyz or through partner schools and colleges.
Applying means sharing proof that you're studying. Those documents are deleted permanently within 30 days of a decision, successful or not, and are used for nothing else. What survives is only the record that a code was issued — never the document.
A code is single-use, expires a year after it is created if unclaimed, and grants a year of Pro from the day it is redeemed. It cannot be redeemed by someone who already has Pro: the year is meant for somebody who doesn't, and the code stays live for them instead.
Applications may be refused. We are not able to fund every request, and the number available is limited to the number of Lifetime plans actually sold.
7 · What you may and may not do
Use Otterly to learn. Don't:
- Copy, scrape, or redistribute course content outside what the source licences allow
- Break, overload, or probe the service, or try to reach another learner's data
- Use the AI tutor to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content
- Choose a username that impersonates someone or that others would reasonably find offensive
- Cheat the leaderboard or manipulate progress by any means other than doing the lessons
We may suspend or delete an account that does these things.
8 · The AI tutor
The Otter tab is powered by a language model. It can be wrong. Treat its answers as a study aid, not as authority, and check anything that matters against the course material.
Don't send it personal, sensitive, or confidential information. It is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind — medical, legal, financial, or otherwise.
9 · Availability
We aim to keep Otterly running and improving, but we don't guarantee it will be available at all times, error-free, or permanent. We may change or discontinue features.
If we discontinue Otterly entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and, where the law requires it, address outstanding Lifetime purchases.
10 · Liability
Otterly is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here affects your statutory consumer rights.
11 · Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before taking effect. Continuing to use Otterly after that means accepting them.
12 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction. If you use Otterly as a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
